I'm so glad you could stop by. This is my personal blog of daily life and my journey through life. You will find a strong emphasis on family and friends as well as finding my ancestors through genealogy. Unlike my other blogs this blog is more of a catch-all so any topic is fair game.
Isn't she just adorable? Baily is a 6 week old mixed breed puppy one of our kids adopted. This little cutey loves to snuggle up close to the crook of the neck and she loves being held. Baily is quite small even though one of her parents was quite big so she is either the runt of the litter or inherited the smaller size genes. At any rate, we don't think she is going to get very big. She went for her first vet check-up and shot yesterday. The vet said she was too small for the shot but he gave her de-worming pills along with a clean bill of health. Baily came to visit us for the evening while our kid met another obligation and didn't want to leave her by herself. Snuggles from grand-puppies...priceless!
Having been owned by a feline friend and having grandkittens it was almost impossible not to chuckle at the cat antics in this video. Cats are just downright hilarious at times, wouldn't you agree? I hope you enjoy the video and have a little chuckle. Enjoy!
A few days after moving in here about the same time we discovered signs that one or more rodents had been in the house we noticed a large white cat who seemed to be rather content to hang out in our yard. We have no idea who's cat this is but it is obviously well cared for. It is also quite apparent he is a natural born mouser! He is rather fond of chasing the rabbits so that helps control rabbit damage in the gardens. On more than one occasion I have seen him proudly walking away with his catch of the day. Every mouse he catches is one less mouse that can get in the house.
The cat makes its rounds morning and evening usually coming from somewhere south of us. He stops at the two neighbouring gardens first then does a complete check of the hedges lining our laneway. Then he checks around the front garden before making his way into the area where the new vegetable gardens are. Finally he makes himself comfortable near the English ivy in the backyard. If he is unsuccessful he moseys along the bordering hedges making his way north to neighbouring houses.
I introduced Emma yesterday. Emma is a well read cat who enjoys keeping up with the latest news and for good reason. She had to browse the real estate section to help her Mommy and Daddy find a new home. She also has to keep her Mommy and Daddy up to date with the current events because they have been very busy over the last few months. Emma asked me to tell you that here Mommy and Daddy do not ever dress her up in funny outfits or make her do silly things although she cannot make any guarantees that youngest grandbaby won't do either. She's happy that youngest grandbaby can only crawl right now!
Cat blogs are very popular likely because cats tend to do cute things or get themselves into some very interesting predictiments. Unfortunately our beloved cat who was about 18 years old is now in kitty heaven and we have no pets for me to brag about. So I asked the kids to send me pictures of our grandkitties.
Emma is the proud parent of the Mommy and Daddy of youngest grandbaby. She is a rescue cat who spends most of her time indoors. Pictured with Emma is her favourite toy that Grandma and Grandpa bought her when she was a kitten. It is a toy Canadian polar bear. She takes it to bed with her each night then in the morning carries the polar bear out to the couch before going back for a late morning nap. Emma is also very fond of playing with the Mardi Gras beads Grandma and Grandpa bring her from Las Vegas and tin foil balls. She loves taking long naps and rough housing occasionally with her Daddy.
Emma has had a very exciting year. Youngest grandbaby arrived in April and in October the family moved into their new home. It has lots of stairs for Emma to play on and lots of windows for her to watch passing vehicles. It also has lots of hiding spots to get away from youngest grandbaby who is now in cruising mode. Emma is taking everything is stride enjoying both youngest grandbaby and her new home.
Now this is a real fitting picture! This dog (and yes it is a real dog) was sitting in the window of a store is St. Ignace, Michigan. I want a dog oh so bad yet my husband doesn't want one. According to him and since we have a boat any dog had best be able to swim from the middle of the lake. I still want a dog! It doesn't matter that I have allergies, I want a dog! Not a huge dog or a fancy dog but a dog. I had a dog for 18 years of my childhood and I had multiple dogs that also shared our home. I need a dog! We tried one of the oh so cute spaniels from the Beanie Baby® collection. I'm not kidding he used it to turn out the light in our room! He could whip that stuffed dog across the room and hit the light switch every time. So I figured out he didn't really like spaniels even though they are oh so cute. And this really comes as a surprise since he actually allowed the kids to keep Tiger (a tabby cat) for over 20 years! Men are so complicated sometimes. Here's the deal I will cook, clean, entertain, quit complaining and in short your life will be heaven [much the same as it is now] if you just let me have a dog. Man! I won't even complain about him having to control the tv remote 24 hours a day 7 days a week or his belching or even when he laughs because he toots (what's with that anyway?). And when the scary parts of Law and Order or Criminal Inten come on I won't have to run to the washroom because my dog (aka my dog) will make it ok. From my perspective, that seems like a pretty good deal :)
I am a wife, mother and grandma who enjoys the many aspects of homemaking. A variety of interests and hobbies combined with travel keep me active. They reflect the importance of family, friends, home and good food.
