A Splash of Red

A Splash of Red
March 19, 2011

My husband knows I don't like the dull, grey days of March so he tends to do little things to cheer me up.  A couple of days ago he brought home a bouquet of red tulips.  They weren't fully opened yet.  I put them in my standard mason jar vase then set them in the kitchen.  By next morning the tulips had opened putting on a bright, showy and cheerful display of red.  Aren't they lovely?

Wedding Reception Centerpiece

Wedding Reception Centerpiece
August 14, 2010

The colour scheme for our nephew's wedding was black and white with pink accents.  It was quite pretty!  My husband won one of the centerpieces to bring home.  The centerpiece originally sat on a black table runner over a white tablecloth bordered by three white votive candles.  I was surprised that there were no silver sparkle confetti to give just a bit more glitter but it could be the hall wouldn't let them.  I know they were talking about the sparkle confetti at the bridal shower.  Many halls and most churches don't allow the confetti because it does make such a mess and it really isn't very eco-friendly but it is a tradition that is going by the wayside.

Surprise Bouquets of Flowers

Carnation
August 9, 2010

My husband surprised me with two gorgeous bouquets of flowers a few days ago.  He does this from time to time for no special reason, just because.  It is always such a treat when he does this.  Flowers always make me smile even on the worst of days.  Aren't they pretty?  Carnations are so pretty!  I need to plant some of them for next year's garden.

My Husband Surprised Me With Flowers

Flower Bouquet
May 10, 2010

My husband has the uncanny knack of knowing just what I need sometimes.  I'm telling you he is one of the best there is!  The house issue is now basically in limbo with us having to make a decision whether to sell or not.  It has quickly become quite a dilemma.  There are pros and cons with respect to moving and in hind sight we listed the house way too soon.  Anyway my husband came home with a love bouquet of flowers.  Not only did they make me smile they brightened the room :)

Flowers on a Grey Day

Flowers on a Grey Day
September 25, 2009

My husband came home with a lovely bouquet of bright, sunny flowers on Friday. It had been a long, cold, rainy and very almost wintery week. I didn't get to enjoy them until Sunday morning after getting home late the night before from visiting the kids but that was ok. Grey days always bother me so we keep a lot of lights on in the main living area on grey days. Anything that helps brighten the grey is always very much welcomed. Aren't the beautiful, sunny colours gorgeous?

Tulips
May 16, 2009

I love taking walks with oldest grandbaby! Through her eyes I see things anew, through the eyes of a toddler. It is so refreshing! During our last visit to the kids oldest grandbaby and I took a short walk both of us sporting digital cameras. Now this was really a hoot! We made several stops to talk pictures along the way while we enjoyed each others company. I taught the finer art of blowing dandelion puffs and when that didn't work a small hand making the fluff dance in the air brought fits of laughter from grandbaby.

It's funny how fast the little ones grow! There is nothing left of the babyishness in oldest grandbaby. In it's place is a determined little one almost too old for the age. It amazes me some of the things she is capable of doing like working her Daddy's iPhone including playing games on it. Her mind is a little sponge catching everything and missing nothing. It's such a priceless time!
